Advocacy & Legislation

The
Older Americans Act requires that the Area Agency on Aging serve as the advocate and focal point for older individuals within the community by monitoring, evaluating, and commenting upon all policies, programs, hearings, levies, and community actions which will affect older individuals.

The Seniors Council embraces this mandate, and actively participates in local, state, and national education and advocacy efforts on behalf of older adults.

We hope you find the informational material contained in this section of our website to be useful in learning more about the challenges facing older adults. And if you find issues and information that you find compelling, please contact your local elected officials, including City Council members, County Supervisors, and/or State Assembly member or Senator, to state your views.
